Çankırı Karatekin University Among the Accessible Universities with Three Flags
June 6 / Ankara - The President of the Council of Higher Education, Erol Özvar, announced the universities awarded this year with the "Accessible University Awards." The awards were presented to the recipients in a ceremony held at the Council of Higher Education. Özvar highlighted the significance of the efforts made to ensure the full, effective, and equal participation of students with disabilities in higher education, noting that the number of students in the higher education system exceeds 7 million, with approximately 58,000 students having various levels of disabilities.
This year, a total of 1709 applications were submitted from 112 universities, and 76 universities were awarded a total of 319 flags. Of these flags, 228 were for accessibility in facilities (orange flag), 55 for accessibility in education (green flag), and 36 for accessibility in socio-cultural activities (blue flag). Kastamonu University received the highest number of flags with 38.
The Success of Çankırı Karatekin University
Çankırı Karatekin University achieved significant success by winning three flags in this year`s Accessible University Awards. The university was awarded for its Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Science, and Faculty of Engineering buildings in the category of accessibility in facilities.
Accessible University Awards
The Accessible University Awards aim to improve the services provided to individuals with disabilities by universities. These awards are distributed in three categories: Accessibility in Facilities (Orange Flag), Accessibility in Education (Green Flag), and Accessibility in Socio-Cultural Activities (Blue Flag). Additionally, the Accessible Program Badge is presented to university programs that are accessible to different groups of individuals with disabilities.
The three flags awarded to Çankırı Karatekin University demonstrate the quality of the university`s efforts and services for students with disabilities. The university will continue to take steps to further its success in accessibility and to achieve more advancements in this field.
